이 오픈스튜디오는 2019년 6개월 임대료를 지원해준 서울예술문화재단에 감사한 마음으로 열었다. 나와 최주원은 뭔가를 돌려줘야 한다고 생각했다. 기금은 결국 일종의 신용대출과 다름 없기 때문이다. 그런데 돌려주어야 하는 것이 돈으로 환산될 수 없는. 어떤 멍청한 사람이 갚을 수 없는 대출을 받는가? 돈으로 돌려받을 수 없는 것을 돌려줄 것을 약속한다는 것은 무엇을 뜻하는가? 당신은 무엇으로 상환하고 있는가?

This open studio was opened in gratitude to the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, which provided 6-month rent for the studio in 2019. I and my colleague thought we gotta give something back. Because a fund is, after all, a kind of credit loan, but with a peculiarity that what must be returned cannot be counted in moneywise. What idiot gets a loan that he can't repay? What does it mean to promise to give back something that isn't money-wise? What's the currency of your redemption?
